汤姆·欧文现德国科隆管弦乐团双簧管首席。1980 年出生于英国南部城市苏塞克斯,毕业于英国皇家音乐音乐学院,师从于著名双簧管教育家Tess Miller。19岁便获得皇家音乐学院双簧管演奏大奖。随后,他在汉诺威大学又跟随克劳斯·贝克尔专攻双簧管独奏家学位,学习期间他就在汉诺威担任英国北方交响乐和苏格兰皇家交响乐团双簧管首席。
大学毕业后汤姆便考入科隆管弦乐团担任双簧管首席。不仅在科隆,欧文的身影还出现在众多欧洲顶级乐团担任客座双簧管首席,像欧洲古老的莱比锡布业大厅管弦乐团,德累斯顿管弦乐团,巴伐利亚歌剧院等。
汤姆现在大师课遍布美国,欧洲,亚洲。本次2014 北京国际双簧管艺术节邀请汤姆为中国的双簧管爱好者召开双簧管大师班并举办专场音乐会,汤姆表示也将专门为本次艺术节排练一些双簧管与弦乐四重奏的室内乐作品为中国的观众欣赏。
英国著名双簧管制造企业Howarth 公司也聘请汤姆·欧文担任代言艺术家。
Tom Owen was born in Sussex in 1980. He began his studies as a scholar at the Purcell School of Music studying with Melanie Ragge,after which he went on to the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Tess Miller. At the age of 19 he won the Royal Academy ofMusic Oboe Prize and later received the Musicians Benevolent Fund’s “Professor Charles Leggett Award” and a “Sidney Perry Award”from the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund resulting in an Oboe and Piano recital in London’s Royal Festival Hall. Tom then spent fouryears at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hannover, with Prof. Klaus Becker, where he had a place in the college's prestigious Solo Class. Tom was fortunate to receive additional financial support from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Hattori Foundation during his study period. While studying in Hannover he was on trial for the Principal Oboe positions with both the Northern Sinfonia and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
During his final year of study in Hannover, Tom was appointed Principal Oboist of the Gürzenich Orchestra, Cologne, resident in the Cologne Opera House and the Cologne Philharmonie. In addition to his work in Cologne, Tom appears regularly as Guest Principal Oboist with many of Europes’s leading Symphony Orchestras including the Stattskapelle Dresden, Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the North, West and Southwest German Radio Orchestras and both of the Radio Orchestras in Berlin. Additionally he works with the Chamber Orchestras Spira Mirabilis, the Musikkollegium Wintherthur in Switzerland, Ensemble Resonanz in Hamburg, Britten Sinfonia in Cambridge and the Camerata Salzburg. Tom has performed in America, Europe and Asia both as a soloist and chamber musician. He featured as a soloist in Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival with violinist Nigel Kennedy in performances of Bach’s Double Concerto. Other highlights include multiple performances of the Strauss Concerto and Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Gürzenich-Orchestra in the Cologne Philharmonie under Markus Stenz, the Fischer Oboe Concerto in the Cologne Philharmonie with the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic under Reinhard Goebel and the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra under Christian Ludwig. He also toured Spain playing Marcello and Pasculli Concertos with the Gürzenich Chamber Orchestra and played Haydns Sinfonia Concertante with the West German Sinfonia under Dirk Joeres. A busy Chamber Musician, Tom has performed with the German Linos and Calamus ensembles in addition to working with his own ensemble, the Cologne Chamber Soloists, who have recently signed with the record label “MDG”. Tom is also a founder of the Cologne Chamber Music Series “Kammermusik für Köln” now in its second season.
He has a busy private teaching schedule in Cologne and has given master classes in the China Conservatory Beijing, the Royal Northern College of Music and the NRW Orchesterzentrum in Dortmund. In August he will be giving concerts and masterclasses in Atri,Italy as part of the 15th International Festival “Duchi d’Acquaviva”.
